Chicago Cubs Ship Castilla to San Diego Sunday, June 29th, 1997 Signed ... sealed ... and delivered. Chicago has worked out terms of a deal to send 29-year-old 3B Vinny Castilla to San Diego for 30-year-old minor league 2B Jeff Frye. Both teams expect to introduce their new players at press conferences later in the week. In 1997 Castilla has hit at a .228 clip with 66 hits, 17 home runs, 44 RBIs and has scored 31 times. So far this season Frye is hitting .190 with 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has 23 hits in 121 at-bats and a .263 OBP. |
