Scott Ruskin Injured, Out for Season
Tuesday, July 1st, 1997
Washington fans will be disappointed to learn that Scott Ruskin suffered a torn labrum while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Washington Senators manager that Ruskin was expected to miss 11-12 months, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the reliever could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

Ruskin has taken the mound for 17 relief appearances this season, nailing down 1 save while notching a 0-1 record with a 5.67 ERA. The Washington reliever has limited opposing batters to a .236 batting average.
