League Gives Cordova and Fajardo 4-Game Suspensions
Wednesday, July 2nd, 1997
It was an intense fight, so Marty Cordova and Hector Fajardo were both suspended today for 4 games for their part in a brawl which happened in a game between the Washington Senators and the Baltimore Orioles at RFK Stadium.
Cordova said, "Luckily nobody was hurt. I think we both overreacted to the situation."
This season Cordova is batting .383 with 41 hits, 7 home runs, 20 RBIs, .414 OBP and has scored 18 runs.
Fajardo has taken the mound for 19 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 0-0 record with a 3.18 ERA. The Baltimore reliever has limited opposing batters to a .246 batting average.
