Gonzalez Homers 3 Times Against New York
Tuesday, May 2nd, 1995
Some days you can't have it all, as Colorado Rockies left fielder Juan Gonzalez discovered when he cracked three homers against the New York Mets today, and still lost.
"I have mixed emotions about this game," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but it's hard to be happy when you lose the game."
The 25-year-old got his name in the league record books, but the Mets walked away with the 7-5 triumph at Shea Stadium. Gonzalez finished the day with 3 hits in 4 at-bats and 4 RBIs.
"I got three balls to hit and nailed all three of them," he said in the postgame interview.
Juan Gonzalez hit a two-run home run off Mike Morgan in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Mike Morgan in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Mike Morgan in the 8th.
So far in 1995 Gonzalez is batting .289 with 13 home runs, 30 RBIs and 25 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 121 at-bats and a .356 OBP.
