"It means I'm wanted somewhere. At least one team sees potential in me." Those were the comments heard after the St. Louis Cardinals came to an agreement to deal 28-year-old minor league CF Alex Diaz to the Seattle Pilots for 31-year-old LHP Derek Lilliquist earlier today. The deal is expected to be formally announced later this evening. Diaz has put up a career batting average of .212 with 53 hits, 2 homers and 19 RBIs. Lilliquist has pitched 37.2 innings and molded a 5.73 ERA with 1 save. He has surrendered 46 hits while registering 19 strikeouts on his way to a 2-2 record for the Missions this year. |
