Newcomer Honored by Federal League
Friday, August 1st, 1997
Though he's a bit older than your typical rookie, 30-year-old Dana Allison, a starter for St. Louis, has proven that he can really pitch in the Federal League with this past month. For his strong effort, he was given the Rookie of the Month Award today.
In July Allison rang up a fine 4-0 record. He made 0 starts, logged 9 strikeouts in 14.2 innings, 1.84 ERA and only allowed opposing hitters to hit .157 against him.
Pretty fair pitching for the old rookie.
This year Allison has collected no saves in 8 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 4-0 won-lost mark with a 1.84 ERA and fanned 9 batters in 14.2 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .157 clip in 1997.
