FL Player of the Week Selected Monday, August 4th, 1997 At the age of 26, Jason Giambi might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Charlotte first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .385 batting average. For his efforts Giambi collected the Federal League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 10 hits in 26 at-bats, 6 home runs and 15 RBIs last week in 6 games. Thus far this season in 111 games Giambi is batting .275 with 36 home runs, 81 RBIs and 87 runs scored. He has 116 hits in 422 at-bats. |
