Dreadful Season Sees Playoff Hopes Dashed for Detroit

A bad season for the Detroit Tigers isn't going to end with a miracle turnaround. The club was officially eliminated from postseason contention today.
The Tigers have missed the playoffs 13 times in their 21 years as a Doubleday Baseball League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 5th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1991. In the last 10 seasons, the Tigers have missed the playoffs 5 times. Detroit has won the World Series 3 times in their history.
