Hrbek Slugs 500th Home Run Wednesday, August 27th, 1997 It's official. Kent Hrbek of the Washington Senators hit his 500th home run tonight. The Washington Senators took on the Oakland Athletics and downed them 11-6, but the big story of the night was the milestone home run for Hrbek. He rounded the bases with a smile and politely stepped on home plate and walked back to the dugout. "500 is a big number, and I am thankful for the ability to get to this milestone. But it's all about the team today, my accomplishments are just one piece to the Senators puzzle." The Senators first baseman went 2-for-3 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI as the Washington Senators topped the Oakland Athletics.
