Joe Borowski Injured, Out for Season
Saturday, August 30th, 1997
Joe Borowski has to call it a season. The Boston Red Sox reliever sustained a season-ending injury against the Cleveland Spiders and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Borowski was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a bone spur in his elbow and stated that he would not be able to play for 4 months.

Borowski has taken the mound for 46 relief appearances this season, nailing down 14 saves while notching a 4-5 record with a 2.55 ERA. The Boston reliever has limited opposing batters to a .218 batting average.
