UL Batter of the Month Honors to McGwire Monday, September 1st, 1997 When guys like Toronto's Mark McGwire win Batter of the Month awards, it just makes you feel good. In a productive August, the longtime United League veteran toyed with opposing pitchers, collecting 27 hits in 98 at-bats. The veteran first baseman hit for a .276 batting average and collected 14 home runs, 23 RBIs and 25 runs scored. This season McGwire is hitting .211 with 101 hits, 55 home runs, 104 RBIs, scored 96 runs and played in 134 games. |
