Gruber Reaches 300 Mark

The Baltimore Orioles had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 6-3 decision to Washington. The reason -- the splendid slugger Kelly Gruber hit his 300th career homer in today's contest at Memorial Stadium.
"I'm fortunate to be here," Gruber told the media after the game. "The Orioles have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #300 was for them."
Looking at his career numbers, Gruber has played in 1852 games with a .246 batting average. Among his 1734 hits are 280 doubles, 47 triples and 300 home runs. He also has scored 942 runs and driven in 957 runs.
