UL's Star Player Named Monday, September 8th, 1997 At the age of 32, Hector Villanueva might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Seattle catcher put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .414 batting average. For his efforts Villanueva collected the United League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 12 hits in 29 at-bats, 3 home runs and 10 RBIs last week in 7 games. Presently Villanueva is batting .227 with 99 hits and 27 home runs. He has knocked in 63 runs and scored 58 times. |
