3-Homer Hat Trick for Meulens
Thursday, September 18th, 1997
Kansas City third baseman Hensley Meulens led the Royals to a 13-6 triumph over the Florida Marlins, crushing three home runs.

"He's scary good when he's swinging the bat like that," said Kansas City skipper Daniel Drucker.

Indeed, Meulens put up some "scary good" numbers: three homers, 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 runs and 3 RBIs.

"I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames," Meulens said. "When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em."

Hensley Meulens flied out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Al Leiter in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Al Leiter in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Paul Byrd in the 7th.

For the year Meulens is batting .293 with 5 home runs.
