Oakland Won't Make Playoffs

There will be no late-season surge to save the playoff hopes of the Oakland Athletics. The team was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today.
The Athletics have missed the playoffs 11 times in their 21 years as a Doubleday Baseball League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 4th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1992. In the last 10 seasons, the Athletics have missed the playoffs 5 times.
