No Late-Season Magic Coming: St. Louis Out of Playoffs

They hung tough, but ultimately, it won't be a championship year for the St. Louis Cardinals. Today, the team was mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the postseason.
Before this season, the Cardinals last missed the playoffs in 1995. In the 21 years they have been a Doubleday Baseball League franchise, they have missed the playoffs 6 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 2 times. St. Louis last won the World Series in 1990.
