Charlotte Devastated by Playoff Elimination Saturday, September 27th, 1997 The 1997 Charlotte Knights season won't end with a trip to the postseason. The club has fallen short on its bid to make the playoffs, being formally eliminated from qualifying today. "Disappointing," team owner Tommy Lettow Jr. told reporters. The Knights have missed the playoffs 9 times in their 12 years as a Doubleday Baseball League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 6th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 1990. In the last 10 seasons, the Knights have missed the playoffs 7 times. |
