Roberto Alomar Claims 1997 FL Batting Title
Tuesday, September 30th, 1997
The numbers speak for themselves: a .310 batting average in 109 games, 145 hits, 30 doubles, 6 triples, 22 home runs, 57 RBIs, 82 runs scored and 35 walks.

Those numbers added up to a batting title for Roberto Alomar of the Kansas City Royals.

The 29-year-old second baseman received the 1997 Federal League batting trophy today. At the award ceremony, Alomar was definitely proud of his achievement.

"I always knew that I had the talent to win a batting title," Alomar commented to reporters, "but I've had trouble at times with consistency. Everything came together this season. I hope this is not the last time. It will be a challenge, but I hope to win it again."
