Mike Greenwell's .300 Average Tops in UL
Tuesday, September 30th, 1997
Mike Greenwell said he thinks it's extra special that he won a batting title at the age of 34.
"I can still keep up with those young guys," the Washington Senators left fielder said with a smile.
He certainly did keep up, as he slammed opposing pitchers for a .300 average on the season to capture the honor.
The batting star also collected 145 hits, 31 doubles, 4 triples and 21 home runs for the year. In 134 games Greenwell totaled 73 RBIs and scored 71 runs.
