Kruk Bashes 5 Base Hits
Sunday, June 11th, 1995
Even as a kid, John Kruk said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Arlington Stadium today, Kruk showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 34-year-old first baseman had 5 hits in 5 at-bats for the Texas Rangers, helping his team knock off the Chicago Cubs by a score of 13-11.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."
John Kruk singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Paul Wagner in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
Thus far this season in 70 games Kruk is batting .267 with 16 home runs, 43 RBIs and 61 runs scored. He has 74 hits in 277 at-bats.
