Chicago Trades Thompson for San Diego's Willard Friday, July 21st, 1995 33-year-old 2B Robby Thompson, 32-year-old RHP Todd Burns and 30-year-old LF Joey Cora will now be playing for the San Diego Padres and 35-year-old C Jerry Willard, 34-year-old minor league 2B Spike Owen, 34-year-old LF Mike Kingery, 37-year-old LHP Steve Howe and 26-year-old minor league 1B Reggie Jefferson will be suiting up for the Chicago White Sox. The trade was announced today at a press conference by club officials. This season Thompson is hitting .236 with 72 hits, 12 home runs, 31 RBIs, scored 44 runs and played in 79 games. In 36 games this season Willard has compiled a .265 batting average with 35 hits and 11 home runs. He has also scored 18 times and knocked in 30 runs. |
