July's Spotlight Falls on Rookie Star Tuesday, August 1st, 1995 It was an awesome July for Andy Pettitte. The young Washington starter surprised opponents all month and today was announced as the United League Rookie of the Month. In 5 starts he registered a 3-0 record and racked up 36 strikeouts and a 1.57 ERA in 40 innings. In 23 starts this season Pettitte has chalked up a 9-4 record and a 2.69 ERA. |
