Monday, August 21st, 1995
At the age of 34, Howard Johnson might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Cleveland first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .440 batting average. For his efforts Johnson collected the Federal League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 11 hits in 25 at-bats, 7 home runs and 13 RBIs last week in 6 games.
Johnson is hitting .227 this year with 50 home runs and 106 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .307, 56 walks and scored 79 times.
