Rowdy Players Suspended by League Wednesday, August 23rd, 1995 If there wasn't a history between Barry Bonds of Boston and Bruce Ruffin of Chicago, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 8 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Bonds said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." So far this year Bonds is batting .223 with 28 home runs. This season Ruffin has compiled a 5-7 record with a 2.45 ERA. |
