Detroit Mathematically Eliminated from Playoffs
Thursday, August 24th, 1995
The Detroit Tigers will soon be packing their bags and heading home for the year. The 1995 season won't involve a playoff run for the club, as Detroit was mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today.

Detroit last appeared in the postseason in 1992. This is their 3rd consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 11 times in their 19-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Tigers have missed the playoffs 3 times. Detroit last won the World Series in 1989.
