Twins Chill Baerga's Hot Streak
Wednesday, August 10th, 1994
It was the best of both worlds for the Minnesota Twins today at Metrodome, as they defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-3 and also snapped Carlos Baerga's 22-game hitting streak. The 25-year-old Pittsburgh second baseman failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Baerga, we just wanted to win the game," said Twins skipper Darren Fischbach. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Baerga frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."
So far this year Baerga has 23 home runs and a .297 batting average.
