Wegman Shuts Out San Francisco
Wednesday, September 7th, 1994
Today was Bill Wegman's turn in the rotation for the Oakland Athletics and he made the most of it, shutting out the San Francisco Giants on 5 hits.
The 31-year-old right-hander led the Athletics to an easy 6-0 victory, allowing 1 walk and tallying 3 strikeouts.
"I hope we miss him next time," San Francisco manager Alen Maglajac said. "Wegman certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
Wegman has taken the mound for 19 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 4-3 record with a 2.94 ERA. The Oakland reliever has limited opposing batters to a .236 batting average.
