Atlanta Out of Time, Out of Playoffs

The Atlanta Braves were stuck in the middle this season -- not competitive enough in the playoff chase to be considered relevant, but not far enough behind to be completely written off. Until now, that is -- today, the Braves were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.
Atlanta last appeared in the postseason in 1987. This is their 7th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 15 times in their 18-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Braves have missed the playoffs 7 times.
