Pittsburgh Out of Playoff Race

Fans in Pittsburgh may been holding onto a glimmer of hope, but that has now been officially snuffed out -- the Pirates were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention today.
"It's a tough day for everyone in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization," owner The owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates told reporters. "We will just have to come back stronger."
Pittsburgh last appeared in the postseason in 1989. This is their 5th consecutive year missing the playoffs, and in total they have not advanced past the regular season 7 times in their 18-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Pirates have missed the playoffs 5 times.
