Bang-up Game: Bonds Slams 3 Homers
Saturday, September 24th, 1994
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Cincinnati Reds today.
Boston left fielder Barry Bonds tripled up on the home runs to propel the Red Sox to the 15-8 win at Fenway Park.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch said. "Bonds hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Bonds collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 8 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Barry Bonds hit a two-run home run off Jose Rijo in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jose Rijo in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Jeff Juden in the 5th.
This season Bonds is hitting .263 with 45 home runs.
