Cardinals Clinch Wild Card Sunday, September 25th, 1994 The St. Louis Cardinals may not go on to win a World Series, but the team celebrated like they had won a championship tonight after securing a wild card spot. "We were definitely feeling the pressure. To go so late into the season and not know whether you're going to make the playoffs or not, it's intense. That's why you're seeing such an excited reaction," said closer Steve Chitren. "All our guys I think are just relieved that we made it after all that." It did indeed take a tough battle and with their record at 90-71, the Cardinals will now look to bring the 3rd World Series championship to St. Louis. |
