Rockies on to League Championship
Tuesday, October 4th, 1994
The Colorado Rockies clubhouse was filled with glee and celebration tonight, while the Montreal Expos room was filled with despair and sadness after the Division Series concluded.
"Someone's got to win and someone's got to lose, we're just glad we're on the good end of it tonight and can enjoy this," said Bob Hamelin, who was named MVP for a strong series of offensive performance.
Colorado won the final game by a 8-1 count at Olympic Stadium and the series 4-2.
Montreal manager David Polakoff was simple and to-the-point in his assessment of the series.
"They were the better team and deserve to move on," he said.
For the series, Hamelin hit .333 with a .440 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.
The Colorado Rockies will play against the Seattle Pilots in the next round. Seattle won their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers 4 games to 2. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Division Series finishes.
