Hit Streak Now at 20 for Gomez Monday, May 19th, 1997 Chris Gomez's hitting streak is becoming the talk of Jacksonville. The 25-year-old second baseman extended it once again today, this time bringing it to 20 games with a 3-for-5 performance against the Asheville Moonshiners. The Suns took the game, 5-0. "People are starting to bring it up to me when I'm around town," he said. "It's getting stressful." Chris Gomez singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. This season in 46 games Gomez is batting .351 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and has scored 38 times. |
