Jones Holds Naperville Scoreless
Thursday, May 22nd, 1997
Today was Jimmy Jones's turn in the rotation for the Colorado Springs Sky Fox and he made the most of it, shutting out the Naperville Lazy Fisherman on 7 hits.
The 33-year-old right-hander led the Sky Fox to an easy 7-0 victory, allowing no walks and tallying 3 strikeouts.
"I hope we miss him next time," Naperville manager said. "Jones certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
Jones has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 4-5 record with a 5.55 ERA. The Colorado Springs reliever has limited opposing batters to a .320 batting average.
