Martinez's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Monday, April 17th, 1995 The Savannah Swamp Foxes fell to the Columbus Clippers in Mules Ballpark today, even as 24-year-old catcher Sandy Martinez upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games. Martinez finished with 1 hit in 3 at-bats, but could not stop the Swamp Foxes from dropping the 5-0 decision. "Yeah, I kept my streak going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Martinez. Sandy Martinez grounded out in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th. So far this year Martinez is hitting .373 with no home runs. |
