Palmeiro's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Tuesday, April 18th, 1995 Win or lose, Orlando Palmeiro just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 2 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games. The Savannah Swamp Foxes left fielder went 2-for-4 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 5-4 by the Columbus Clippers at Mules Ballpark. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Orlando Palmeiro singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This season Palmeiro has hit at a .374 clip with 12 RBIs, 0 home runs and 12 runs scored. He has played in 22 games. |
