Ochoa Sizzles with 33-Game Batting Streak
Thursday, May 29th, 1997
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Alex Ochoa did it again, bashing 2 hits in the contest at Fire Dogs Ballpark today. For the last 33 games in a row, the 25-year-old right fielder has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Hartford Whalers beat the Ocean City Blue Crabs 5-3 today.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Ochoa told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Hartford clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Alex Ochoa flied out in the 1st, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
Ochoa is currently hitting at a .398 pace with 15 home runs, 64 RBIs and has scored 73 times.
