Martinez's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Thursday, May 29th, 1997 Carlos A. Martinez's bat has been smoking lately, and it continued today as he went 2-for-4 in a 17-2 Milwaukee Otters triumph over the Jacksonville Suns at Field of the Running Rebels. The 31-year-old first baseman has now hit safely in 20 consecutive games for the Otters. Carlos A. Martinez grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, singled in the 5th and grounded out in the 6th. This year Martinez is hitting .407, produced 51 RBIs and 5 home runs, scored 58 times and gotten on base at a .434 rate. |
