League Punishes Pair for Fighting Saturday, April 22nd, 1995 If there wasn't a history between Matt Mieske of Nashville and Kirk McCaskill of Walla Walla, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 2 and 6 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today. "We're both really competitive," Mieske said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it." Currently Mieske has 5 home runs and a .231 batting average. McCaskill has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-3 record with a 4.40 ERA. The Walla Walla reliever has limited opposing batters to a .295 batting average. |
