Whalers Blank Red Wings, VanLandingham Wins
Friday, April 28th, 1995
William VanLandingham of the Hartford Whalers spun his magic on the Rochester Red Wings today. He blanked them 11-0 on 5 hits, registering 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," VanLandingham said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Hartford skipper said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"William pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
This season VanLandingham has registered 4 wins and 1 loss in 7 starts with a 3.86 ERA.
