Moonshiners Chill Martinez's Hot Streak Tuesday, June 3rd, 1997 Milwaukee Otters first baseman Carlos A. Martinez and his hot bat finally met their match today at Stags Ballpark. The Asheville Moonshiners snapped his 21-game hitting string, holding Martinez hitless in 3 at-bats and also whipping Milwaukee for good measure. "We're real pleased with this one," Moonshiners manager said. "Nobody wants to be on the wrong end of a streak like that, and clobbering Milwaukee makes it even sweeter." In 56 games this season Martinez has compiled a .403 batting average with 102 hits and 5 home runs. He has also scored 59 times and knocked in 52 runs. |
