Fox 5-for-5 for Spokane
Thursday, June 5th, 1997
Andy Fox was at the head of a Spokane River Rats hit parade today at Foxes Ballpark. The 26-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Omaha Storm Chasers that marched off with the 5-4 win.
"We didn't have it today," griped River Rats skipper following the game. "Andy did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching."
Fox did more than fine, dominating the Storm Chasers at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance.
"Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging shortstop told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
Andy Fox singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Fox is hitting .269, produced 18 RBIs and 1 home runs, scored 29 times and gotten on base at a .348 rate.
