Fox 5-for-5 for Spokane Thursday, June 5th, 1997 Andy Fox was at the head of a Spokane River Rats hit parade today at Foxes Ballpark. The 26-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Omaha Storm Chasers that marched off with the 5-4 win. "We didn't have it today," griped River Rats skipper following the game. "Andy did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Fox did more than fine, dominating the Storm Chasers at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging shortstop told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Andy Fox singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
