Storm Chasers Roland DeLaMaza to Miss Year
Friday, June 6th, 1997
Omaha reliever Roland DeLaMaza could miss the remainder of the season because of bone chips in his elbow. He exited yesterday's Spokane game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said DeLaMaza would be out 6 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."
DeLaMaza has taken the mound for 26 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 0-2 record with a 10.58 ERA. The Omaha reliever has limited opposing batters to a .418 batting average.
