Latham Bashes 5 Base Hits
Monday, June 9th, 1997
No matter what the Salt Lake City Buzz threw at him today, Chris Latham hit it. He easily handled Buzz pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the River Rats to a 18-8 triumph at Bella Vista Grounds.
"The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.
Told of Latham's quip, Buzz skipper said he "would take him up on that next time."
Chris Latham doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Mark Acre in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, walked in the 9th and singled in the 9th.
For the season, Latham is hitting at a .259 clip with 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and has scored 29 runs. He has 28 hits, 15 walks and a .352 on-base percentage.
