Week's Premier Player: Brooklyn's Concepcion
Monday, June 16th, 1997
Few players his age are still in the league, but Onix Concepcion of the Brooklyn Cyclones clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 39-year-old shortstop hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Concepcion a popular and well-deserved selection as Atlantic Player of the Week.
He paced the Cyclones attack by putting up a .577 batting average, 15 hits in 26 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 1 home run. Concepcion also scored 4 runs.
Concepcion is currently batting .328 with 3 home runs and 33 RBIs.
