Spokane Shuts Out Idaho Falls, 3-0
Thursday, June 26th, 1997
Rick Helling was in a mood to talk following the Spokane River Rats contest against the Idaho Falls Chukars, expounding to BNN reporters on his pitching philosophy. He had good reason to be excitable, having tossed a complete game shutout of the Chukars, 3-0.
"There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location," Helling said. "I was hitting my spots time and time again."
The right-hander blanked Idaho Falls on a 1-hitter, allowing 3 walks and racking up 13 strikeouts.
Helling has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 8-6 record with a 2.77 ERA. The Spokane reliever has limited opposing batters to a .245 batting average.
