Suns Lose Dewey for Season
Monday, June 30th, 1997
Jacksonville reliever Mark Dewey could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn rotator cuff. He exited yesterday's Bluff City game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Dewey would be out 10 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that."

Dewey has taken the mound for 30 relief appearances this season, nailing down 15 saves while notching a 3-3 record with a 3.43 ERA. The Jacksonville reliever has limited opposing batters to a .267 batting average.
