Smith Extends Hit Streak to 20 Games Saturday, July 19th, 1997 Dwight Smith continued his streak at Alleycats Ballpark today, even as the ballgame did not go his way. The Idaho Falls left fielder was 1-for-3 in today's contest and now has hit safely in his last 20 games. The Chukars were not as fortunate, losing 6-2 to the Nashville Sounds. "Smith was hitting everything we threw at him," said Nashville manager . "He is a tough out. Fortunately, things went our way in the ballgame today and we came away with a win." Dwight Smith flied out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and walked in the 8th. In his stats this season, Smith has posted a batting average of .337 with 139 hits in 412 at-bats, 14 home runs and 74 RBIs. He has also scored 75 runs, walked 40 times and compiled a .389 OBP. |
