Barrage of Hits Gets Guerrero ATL Award Monday, July 21st, 1997 So far in his young career, Wilton Guerrero has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the Atlantic in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 22-year-old Asheville Moonshiners second baseman hit at a torrid .500 clip as he collected 17 hits in 34 at-bats, 1 home run, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. Thus far this season Guerrero is hitting .410 with 4 home runs, 66 RBIs and 94 runs scored. He has 187 hits in 456 at-bats and has played in 99 games. |
