Gomez Has 20-Game Hitting Streak Monday, July 21st, 1997 Chris Gomez has been ripping hits every day for a while now, and nobody seems able to stop him. The Jacksonville second baseman picked up 1 more today against the Columbus Clippers and now has a 20-game hitting streak. The Suns won the game 4-2. "Definitely somebody's going to stop me at some point," he said later, chuckling. "I'll enjoy it for the time being." Chris Gomez flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
